Programming when the power is off

Yesterday our programming class was interrupted because of a power failure. So we took a break, drank cooldrink in the Makhaza office and discussed how we could use what we’d learned about Processing in the past two weeks to produce the beautiful mural on the office wall –  using code instead of paint.
Ever since I saw Liesel and a few volunteers transforming this wall with their painting, I’ve loved its energy, primary colours and spirited rhythm. So it seems a suitable header for our site.

Here’s the code we developed together, and this is an interactive version.  Next year we will be learning how to use functions to simplify our code and make it a bit more readable.
